SUMMARY:Giant Parade Puppets Camp!
DESCRIPTION:Puppets have a way of capturing the imagination. When you see them in a parade they are often BIG. From a Dragon puppet used to celebrate the Chinese New Year to the upside-down Marionettes of the great Tony Sarg’s creations in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade\, parade puppets are a main attraction and are what everyone talks about after the parade ends. \nIn this class we are going to sculpt a large puppet head and then mount the head onto a wooden frame which we will load into a backpack. We will build some hands on rods and connect them together with fabric arms.  Wha-lah these marching giants are sure to entertain their makers and fascinate and delight their audience! \nPlease note. These puppets are easy to disassemble.  The heads can become a sculptural decoration when not in use and the arms can be stored in a closet or under a bed. \n                   These are great Halloween Costumes!   \n*This Camp is for children going into 3rd\, 4th\, 5th\, 6th or 7th grade in the fall of 2025. \n*This is a 5 day camp from 9-3:30. Students bring their own lunch\, water bottle and snack. \n*Important note:  Students will get to keep the entire puppet\, except for the backpack\, Homeslice Puppetry will need to take them back at the end of the class.  If you would like to bring your own backpack with you that would be perfectly fine\, however it must be a backpack with a hip belt\, and it may get damaged from putting a wooden frame inside it so I recommend an older used backpack. \n\n*Eric Weiss\, of HomeSlice Pupperty\, is a CCS guest artist\,  is a talented puppet maker that shares his skills with Creative Community Space young artists a couple of times a year. This club is from 315 – 4:15. \nIf you would like to join the Wednesday group waiting list\, please email: CreativeCommunitySpace@gmail.com \nCome have fun exploring new art materials and techniques! Meet other young artists and find your favorite mediums.  We will paint\, sculpt\, draw\, make 3 dimensional art\, prints\, and mixed media pieces. Come see what you can do! \nArt Club for grades 3 -5 or age equivalent\, will meet Mondays from 3:15 – 5:00.  Registration is for 4 weeks of classes which is a “session.” \nYou may also sign up for a “semester\,”/ half year\, and receive a discount. \nIf you are registering for one session at a time you must renew your registration monthly by emailing Vandy at CreativeCommunitySpace@gmail.com or speaking to her directly on or before the third day of the current session so your child’s spot isn’t filled by someone else. \nEpping students will be picked up at school and walked down to the Arts Center by the Creative Community Space group leader.  Students should bring a snack to eat before we begin Art Club activities. Homeschooled students or students coming from other school districts should arrive at Creative Community Space by 3:40 (and eat a snack before they come) \nYou will find the registration form at the link below.  Upon receiving your registration & payment for an Epping Elementary Student we will email you a “Walkers’ Release”  before your first session that will allow us to pick your child up at school. \n*Please note   We follow the Epping SAU 14 school calendar for days off/snow days. \nThere will be 1 make-up day offered/semester for Art Club days that may have been missed due to snow/school cancellation or teacher illness. \nAll dates that we meet are listed here. DESCRIPTION:New!!! We have added 3rd grade to this group for children who need a Wednesday group. This group meets from 3:15 – 4:15. \nCome have fun\, try new things and make fun projects!   We will experiment with new skills and materials\, hear some stories and use our imaginations! \nArt Club for grades 1\, 2 & 3 or age equivalent. (Kindergarten students can join on Thursdays in January – see bottom of the page) We will meet Wednesdays from 3:15 – 4:15.  Epping Elemenary students will be picked up and walked down from school by CCS Staff. Non-walker information below.   \nParents are asked to come into the Art Center to pick up their child at 4:15 \nStudents who attend Epping Rec can be walked to Rec after Art Club for a $2.00/ week fee.
