SUMMARY:Giant Parade Puppets Camp!
DESCRIPTION:Puppets have a way of capturing the imagination. When you see them in a parade they are often BIG. From a Dragon puppet used to celebrate the Chinese New Year to the upside-down Marionettes of the great Tony Sarg’s creations in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade\, parade puppets are a main attraction and are what everyone talks about after the parade ends. \nIn this class we are going to sculpt a large puppet head and then mount the head onto a wooden frame which we will load into a backpack. We will build some hands on rods and connect them together with fabric arms.  Wha-lah these marching giants are sure to entertain their makers and fascinate and delight their audience! \nPlease note. These puppets are easy to disassemble.  The heads can become a sculptural decoration when not in use and the arms can be stored in a closet or under a bed. \n                   These are great Halloween Costumes!   \n*This Camp is for children going into 3rd\, 4th\, 5th\, 6th or 7th grade in the fall of 2025. \n*This is a 5 day camp from 9-3:30. Students bring their own lunch\, water bottle and snack. \n*Important note:  Students will get to keep the entire puppet\, except for the backpack\, Homeslice Puppetry will need to take them back at the end of the class.  If you would like to bring your own backpack with you that would be perfectly fine\, however it must be a backpack with a hip belt\, and it may get damaged from putting a wooden frame inside it so I recommend an older used backpack. \n\n*Eric Weiss\, of HomeSlice Pupperty\, is a CCS guest artist\,  is a talented puppet maker that shares his skills with Creative Community Space young artists a couple of times a year. SUMMARY:Puppet Workshop - It's Alive!
DESCRIPTION:“It’s Alive!” (Stuffed Animal Puppets): (Grades 3 & up\, 2-2.5 Hrs.) \nWhat would happen if Dr. Frankenstein was let loose in a toy shop?  Now I know what you are thinking\, my child will be devastated and traumatized if we cut their favorite stuffed animal apart to create a puppet!  Relax my friends\, I will supply an array of cleaned\, used stuffed animals to dissect.  This class is a great and unique way to teach students about hand puppets.  In this class each student will begin with a stuffed animal\, which we will then proceed to turn into a hand puppet by opening it up\, learning to pattern its mouth\, and constructing & installing a mouth plate.  Miraculously this will animate a formerly inanimate object\, turning it from a mere toy\, into a puppet. Vandy will pick students up at Epping Elementary School and walk them down.  Students from other school districts should arrive by 3:35. \n \nREGISTRATION DEADLINE EXTENDED: Register by 11:59 pm on Wednesday\, November 6th.

In this class\,\nstudents will learn to build foam puppets and how to give them a beautiful silicone\nskin. Using florescent mica powders students will give the skins on their creations\nthe ability to make them glow in ultraviolet light. By the end of the week\, we shall put on\na short performance using these new creations. This will be a very unique puppetry\nexperience! \nThis is a 5 day camp from 9-3. Students bring their own lunch\, water bottle and snack. \nCost is $185 + $40 for materials = $225.00 \nRegistration deadline: Register on or before June 5th.   Cancelations after June 5th receive a credit towards a different camp this season. SUMMARY:Deluxe Sock Puppets!
DESCRIPTION:Deluxe Sock Puppets!\nThis is not your average run-of-the-mill Sock Puppet class. This class teaches the basics of\ncreating a puppet character\, and all the elements needed to do so. Then students will learn to\nbuild a mouth plate and by using this plate as well as a foam “skull” for a round head shape\,\nthey will give their puppets a much greater range of motion and movement than an average\nsock puppet. Students will then proceed to create their characters and build their puppets! \nThis is an “After School” Workshop for grades 3-7. \n“Transportation” Vandy Leigh will pick students up after school at Epping Elementary school and walk them down to the art center.  Middle School students are asked to walk down to Creative Community Space on their own.  All youth not attending Epping schools should arrive at Creative Community Space no later than 3:30. \nMaterials = $ 15.00\nInstruction= $ 35.00\nTotal= $ 50.00 \nRegistration: There is a limit on class size – Register today!!!  We need 5 students to run this great workshop\, please tell your children’s friends about this opportunity! \nRegistration Deadline:   REGISTRATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MAY 9th.  Cancelations on or before April 30th receive full refund. Cancelations after April 30th receive a credit for a different class. \n   \nCovid-related information:  Art Club will meet in the indoor Gathering Space as long as it is determined to be safe. \nDuring classes and Open Art at Creative Community Space masks are highly recommended.
