SUMMARY:It's Alive!!! - Stuffy Puppets
DESCRIPTION:“It’s Alive!” (Stuffed Animal Puppets): (Grades 3 & up\, 2-2.5 Hrs.) \nWhat would happen if Dr. Frankenstein were let loose in a toy shop?  Now I know what you are thinking: my child will be devastated and traumatized if we cut their favorite stuffed animal apart to create a puppet!  Relax\, my friends\, I will supply an array of cleaned\, used stuffed animals to dissect.  This class is a great and unique way to teach students about hand puppets.  In this class\, each student will begin with a stuffed animal\, which we will then proceed to turn into a hand puppet by opening it up\, learning to pattern its mouth\, and constructing & installing a mouth plate.  Miraculously\, this will animate a formerly inanimate object\, turning it from a mere toy into a puppet. \nCreative Community Staff will pick students up at Epping Elementary School and walk them down to the Art Center.  Students who are commuting should arrive by 3:35. \nRegistration deadline May 1st\, midnight \nNo refunds after this date \n******THERE IS AN ADULT VERSION THE NEXT DAY\, SATURDAY\, MAY 16TH. \nEric Weiss is an award-winning puppet maker and Creative Community Space guest artist who has led multiple workshops and camps each year at Creative Community Space since 2023. SUMMARY:This is Puppetry! CAMP!
DESCRIPTION:This Is Puppetry  \nEver wonder how those puppets you see on television and in movies are made? In this class I teach you the secrets to building your very own foam patterned hand and rod puppet and all the materials\, elements\, and skills that go into making them look so real and lifelike.  We will also learn fundamentals to creating a character through the use of color\, texture\, different materials\, and movement\, as well as how to manipulate your puppet to bring your character to life.  These puppets are sewn and covered in fleece using the “Henson” or “Ladder” stitch.  No previous puppetry skills needed\, (basic hand sewing skills are helpful)  just your imagination and creativity are required. \n*Eric Weiss\, of HomeSlice Pupperty\, is a CCS guest artist\,  is a talented puppet maker that shares his skills with Creative Community Space young artists a couple of times a year.
