SUMMARY:Deluxe Sock Puppets!!!
DESCRIPTION:Deluxe Sock Puppets: \n                                 \nDeluxe Sock Puppets: (Age 8 and up) \nThis is an advanced sock puppet class.  This class begins with an introduction to puppetry and creating a puppet character\, as well as all of the elements needed to do so.  Then students will learn to build a mouth plate and by using this plate as well as some foam for a “skull”\, they will give their sock puppets a wonderful shape and much greater range of motion and movement than an average sock puppet.  Students will then proceed to create their characters and build their puppets. \nThis is a wildly popular class and space is limited so register early! \nStudents from Epping Elementary School will be picked up after school and walked down to the Art Center. \nStudents driving from other areas need to arrive by 3:30 for this special workshop. \nWe need at least 6 students to run this class – please tell your children’s friends! \nRegistration deadline  EXTENDED April 1st! DESCRIPTION:This Is Puppetry  \nEver wonder how those puppets you see on television and in movies are made? In this class I teach you the secrets to building your very own foam patterned hand and rod puppet and all the materials\, elements\, and skills that go into making them look so real and lifelike.  We will also learn fundamentals to creating a character through the use of color\, texture\, different materials\, and movement\, as well as how to manipulate your puppet to bring your character to life.  These puppets are sewn and covered in fleece using the “Henson” or “Ladder” stitch.  No previous puppetry skills needed\, (basic hand sewing skills are helpful)  just your imagination and creativity are required. \n*Eric Weiss\, of HomeSlice Pupperty\, is a CCS guest artist\,  is a talented puppet maker that shares his skills with Creative Community Space young artists a couple of times a year. SUMMARY:Giant Parade Puppets Camp!
DESCRIPTION:Puppets have a way of capturing the imagination. When you see them in a parade they are often BIG. From a Dragon puppet used to celebrate the Chinese New Year to the upside-down Marionettes of the great Tony Sarg’s creations in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade\, parade puppets are a main attraction and are what everyone talks about after the parade ends. \nIn this class we are going to sculpt a large puppet head and then mount the head onto a wooden frame which we will load into a backpack. We will build some hands on rods and connect them together with fabric arms.  Wha-lah these marching giants are sure to entertain their makers and fascinate and delight their audience! \nPlease note. These puppets are easy to disassemble.  The heads can become a sculptural decoration when not in use and the arms can be stored in a closet or under a bed. \n                   These are great Halloween Costumes!   \n*This Camp is for children going into 3rd\, 4th\, 5th\, 6th or 7th grade in the fall of 2025. \n*This is a 5 day camp from 9-3:30. DESCRIPTION:“It’s Alive!” (Stuffed Animal Puppets): (Grades 3 & up\, 2-2.5 Hrs.) \nWhat would happen if Dr. Frankenstein were let loose in a toy shop?  Now I know what you are thinking: my child will be devastated and traumatized if we cut their favorite stuffed animal apart to create a puppet!  Relax\, my friends\, I will supply an array of cleaned\, used stuffed animals to dissect.  This class is a great and unique way to teach students about hand puppets.  In this class\, each student will begin with a stuffed animal\, which we will then proceed to turn into a hand puppet by opening it up\, learning to pattern its mouth\, and constructing & installing a mouth plate.  Miraculously\, this will animate a formerly inanimate object\, turning it from a mere toy into a puppet. \nCreative Community Staff will pick students up at Epping Elementary School and walk them down to the Art Center.  Students who are commuting should arrive by 3:35. \nRegistration deadline May 1st\, midnight \nNo refunds after this date \n******THERE IS AN ADULT VERSION THE NEXT DAY\, SATURDAY\, MAY 16TH. \nEric Weiss is an award-winning puppet maker and Creative Community Space guest artist who has led multiple workshops and camps each year at Creative Community Space since 2023.
