Ever wonder how those puppets you see on television and in movies are made? In this class, I teach you the secrets to building your own foam-patterned hand and rod puppet and all the materials, elements, and skills that make them look so real and lifelike. We will also learn the fundamentals of creating a character through the use of color, texture, different materials, and movement, as well as how to manipulate your puppet to bring your character to life. These puppets are sewn and covered in fleece using the “Henson” or “Ladder” stitch. No previous puppetry skills are needed, (basic hand-sewing skills are helpful – see video links below) just your imagination and creativity are required.
This is a 5 day camp from 9-3:30. Students bring their own lunch, water bottle and snack.
Cost is $172 + $65 for materials = $237.00
