This is Puppetry! CAMP!

July 20 @ 9:00 am - July 24 @ 3:30 pm

$207.00 + 79.00 Materials Cost

This Is Puppetry

Ever wonder how those puppets you see on television and in movies are made? In this class I teach you the secrets to building your very own foam patterned hand and rod puppet and all the materials, elements, and skills that go into making them look so real and lifelike.  We will also learn fundamentals to creating a character through the use of color, texture, different materials, and movement, as well as how to manipulate your puppet to bring your character to life.  These puppets are sewn and covered in fleece using the “Henson” or “Ladder” stitch.  No previous puppetry skills needed, (basic hand sewing skills are helpful)  just your imagination and creativity are required.

*Eric Weiss, of HomeSlice Pupperty, is a CCS guest artist,  is a talented puppet maker that shares his skills with Creative Community Space young artists a couple of times a year. See more information about Eric  https://creativecommunityspace.com/meet-the-teaching-members/

This is for students going into fourth grade and up in the fall of 2026

Practicing the stitches below will help students have more time to imagine their character and require less time learning to sew.
